This program is designed to equip CNAs with specialized skills and knowledge to provide compassionate and effective care for individuals with dementia. The curriculum includes:
- Understanding Dementia: Comprehensive overview of dementia types, symptoms, progression, and impact on patients and families.
- Communication Techniques: Strategies for effective communication with dementia patients, including non-verbal cues and therapeutic communication.
- Behavior Management: Techniques for managing challenging behaviors associated with dementia, such as aggression, wandering, and agitation.
- Person-Centered Care: Emphasis on individualized care plans that respect the dignity and preferences of dementia patients.
- Safety and Emergency Procedures: Protocols for ensuring the safety of dementia patients and responding to emergencies.
- Caregiver Support: Resources and strategies for supporting caregivers and families of dementia patients.
Upon completion, participants will receive certification as a CNA Dementia Specialist, demonstrating their expertise in providing specialized dementia care.
